FTA Warrants Outstanding
The number of outstanding warrants is the total of all warrants, at the last working day of the given month, not executed or withdrawn. This includes all warrants issued in previous months which have not yet been executed or withdrawn. Those warrants received by police in the given Area, but where enquiries have been sent to another police force are counted as part of this figure. Those warrants imported from other police forces do not count as part of the receiving Area's total. The target figure for this measure has been locally set by individual LCJBs. The baseline figure is the outstanding number of warrants at the end of "Operation Turn-up" (i.e. at 31st March 2005).
FTA Warrants' Notification Timeliness
The time period for notification measures the time that elapses between when a FTA warrant is issued by the court (not the time it is signed) and when it is received by the police. The target is 90% within one working day and 100% within three working days.
FTA Timeliness of Execution
Warrants are categorised by the police on receipt as either A, B or C according to their priority. Warrants are categorised A for serious original offences or priority, prolific or young offenders down to C for low level offences. The police are given targets to execute each category of warrant within a specific timeframe. National standards are set to execute 70% of category A warrants within 14 days, 70% of category B warrants within 21 days and 60% of category C warrants within 28 days. Individual targets have been negotiated with each LCJB area which accumulates to meet the national standards above.
