Meet your Magistrates during November 08

Lancashire’s Magistrates are stepping up their efforts to get closer to their local communities, giving the public the opportunity to have more of a say in the local delivery of justice in Lancashire.

This new Community Engagement Initative is a two-way discussion.  Local Magistrates find out what the local community’s priorities and concerns are, and the Local Community find out about what is being done to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour in their local area.

By better involving local communities, this initiative will help to :

  1. reduce crime
  2. reduce the fear of crime
  3. increase confidence that crime is being dealt with effectively
  4. ensure the public can have more of an impact on reducing local crime, making life safer and better for everyone.

Lancashire Magistrates will attend already established community meetings (PACT - Police & Community Together, MAPS - Multi Agency Problem Solving) and will also hold a number of dedicated local events themselves.
